Caledonian College Of Engineering

All students admitted to the university Diploma/Foundation Study programme must normally possess a Thanawia Amma School Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification. However, only those students who demonstrate, through an entrance examination, a satisfactory standard in English, Mathematics and Science will be admitted directly to engineering courses.

The University Diplomas are equivalent of UK HNDs and successful students gain direct entry into the third year of Degree and Honours Degree programmes at Glasgow Caledonian University. The Degree requires one further year of study whereas the Honours Degree requires two.

The college also offers a Foundation Study programme of one-year duration. This course is developed for students who need further preparation in English, Mathematics and Science before starting the Diploma course.

Nature & Duration of Programme.

The study programmes in the collge are designed to cater to the varying needs of students from different sectors of activity. Full-time and Evening courses are available. The Evening schedule is considered highly appropriate and satisfying for employed persons. The course timing presently followed are indicated below:

Day courses: 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
Evening courses: 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
5 days a week - Saturday through Wednesday and two semesters each year. Each semester normally has 17 weeks of timetabled instructions and evaluation.

Admission procedures.

Students are admitted to the College in September and February. Applications in the prescribed form along with a registration fee should reach the Admission Co-ordinator on or before the last date fixed. Applicants possessing the required qualification will becalled for a written examination. Offer of admission will be made only to those students whose performance in the above are satisfactory. The standards of written examination will be that of the Thanawia Amma examinations and the medium of test is English.
